With the lifting of COVID-19 public health restrictions in Ontario, sports is back at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI)!

VCI Warriors fall in semi-finals

The VCI Warriors lost 44-33 to St-Thomas in the semi-finals of Boys’ basketball on Wednesday, March 30. Although it was a disappointing end to the season, the squad had a big rebound during the year, starting 0-2 and then battling back with four straight wins to qualify for the playoffs.

Game #3 – Win vs Le Relais 56-32
Game #4 – Win vs St-Francis 50-48
Game #5 – Win vs Le Sommet 51-43
Game #6 – Win vs Rockland District High School 64-43

VCI did not have an official Junior team for this season, however the team but they did win their exhibition game against École secondaire catholique régionale de Hawkesbury by a score of 48-44

This Wednesday, both teams will play their final exhibition games of the season vs Glengarry District High School in Alexandria. The Senior Warriors will play at 10:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Junior team.

Spring sports

VCI will be fielding various teams for the spring season. Boys’ and Girls’ soccer have already begun indoor practices. Badminton tryouts are also underway. VCI will once again participate in the Prescott-Russell Ultimate Disc tournament at the end of May.

Alumni Basketball and Volleyball Fundraiser

On Saturday May 21, VCI will be hosting basketball and volleyball alumni games for anyone who has graduated from, or came to VCI.

Many former students have already started to register for both events. If you are interested in participating, please email [email protected]. The cost will be $10 per game.

Emails are already being received from many former students who graduated in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s. All are welcome along with spectators and kids.
