The Riceville Fair takes place this weekend, beginning on Friday, August 24 and continuing until Sunday, August 26.
On Friday evening, the gates open at 6 p.m. and activities kick off with the Locavore event (a pop-up market), beginning at 6 p.m. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., come register and take part in the Redneck Games, which include bull riding, axe-throwing (battle axe), Ring of Fire, Needle in the Haystack and Volley Pong.
From 8 p.m. to 12 midnight, music will be provided by Charlie Andrews. At 10 p.m., there will be a fireworks show.
Saturday is a full day, kicking off at 9 a.m. with the English and Western Horse Shows. At 10 a.m., the exhibition hall opens, which includes artisan displays, the homecraft division and crops.
At 11:30 a.m., the Youth Beef Show takes place while at 12 noon, the children’s area opens and then at 12:30 p.m., you can watch the Firefighter Challenge.
At 1 p.m., the Registered Hereford and Simmental Show will take place. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Roger Hamelin and Friends will provide live music.
From 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., you can enjoy a turkey supper in the dining hall.
At 6:30 p.m., the 9th annual Street Legal Truck Pull takes place, and then at 9 p.m,, the Kilts, Riffs and Spurs will provide musical entertainment.
On Sunday morning, the Riceville Agricultural Society hosts their annual brunch, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
At 10 a.m., the Light and Heavy Horse Shows take place in the Horse Ring. At 10 a.m., the Prescott County 4-H Achievement Day takes place and then at 11 a.m., the Antique Tractor Pull and Farm Stock event is scheduled.
The children’s area opens at 12 noon on Sunday. At 1 p.m., there will be live music by the Fridge Full of Empties, and a recreational horseshoe tournament starts at 1 p.m.
At 2 p.m. there will be a demonstration by Herb’s Towing and the Nation Fire Department.
At 6 p.m., the cash draw will take place.
General admission is $10 per person; admission for seniors is $8. Admission for children aged 12 and under is free.
Please note that no Pets are allowed on the fairgrounds, with the exception of service dogs.
