A new commercial tower in Ste-Anne-de-Prescott will mean better connectivity for residents in the Township of East Hawkesbury.

All equipment on the tower was upgraded as well as in all customers’ homes at no charge.  This upgrade results in a tenfold increase in capacity in the area.

The result is that residents are able to purchase packages from IGS Hawkesbury of up to 25/2 Mbps and businesses of up to 50/10 Mbps.  Now customers can enjoy streaming video in high definition, video conferencing, fast file transfers, home learning and home automation and security systems.

IGS intends to continue development with a hub spoke network design in 2018/19.  Once completed, connection speeds of up to 100/20 Mbps will be available to customers in the Ste-Anne-de Prescott and surrounding areas.  This far surpasses what is currently available.

Jamie Bogue of IGS Hawkesbury stated: “Thank you to our customers and the Township of East Hawkesbury for making this project possible.  We are working hard to bring rural Ontario and Quebec into the Future.”

“This upgrade is part of a larger project to upgrade our entire infrastructure in Prescott Russell,” says Bogue.

Robert Kirby, Mayor of the Township of East Hawkesbury stated: “We are pleased to contribute to the realization of this project in order to provide high speed internet to the rural areas of our municipality.  This will inevitably help with the economic development in our Township.”
