A Movie Under the Stars will take place on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 8:30 p.m. at the L’Orignal Park/Beach. Admission for kids is free, while adults will pay $5.
Champlain Parks and Recreation Director Lisa Burroughs says the event is a first — a partnership between Champlain Parks and Recreation and the L’Orignal Volunteer Firefighters. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of a new play structure at the L’Orignal Park. A small play structure and swing saucer, plus surfacing and landscape is estimated at $25,000. Burroughs says she hopes the entire cost will come from fundraising efforts.
The movie starts at 8:30 p.m. Bring your folding chair, blankets and bug spray. Washrooms are available on-site.
Popcorn, drinks and other treats will be available for purchase before and during the show with proceeds going toward the new play structure in the park. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are permitted on leashes, but you are encouraged to use your discretion when thinking about bringing your dog with you.
In the event of rain, the movie will be cancelled. Cancellation information will be posted between 4 and 5 p.m. on the Champlain Recreation Facebook page on that day.
While you are here, we have a small ask.
More people are reading The Review than ever before — across our many platforms. So far, we have not put up a paywall to limit the stories you can read. We want to keep you in the news loop. But advertising revenues are increasingly going to the big two: you know who they are. If you value The Review’s independent, local community journalism, or you value the many ways we support dozens of community organizations in their endeavours, consider supporting our work. It takes time, effort and professional smarts to stay on top of community news and present well-researched, objective news articles on issues which matter to you.
If you read stories on this website, or you have come here from an Instant Article post on Facebook, think about subscribing. It would be a vote of confidence for the work that we do, and for the future well-being of your community.
