Flash dance lights are irritating

To The Editor,

Driving about town lately, I’ve noticed an increasing number of service and emergency vehicles using laser-like LEDs as flashers. I find these lights harsh and irritating to look at, especially when they are flashing at a relatively high rate. Sure, they get my attention but then I avert my eyes from whatever the attention was got for. Am I the only one who finds these lights excessive and detrimental to defensive driving? Perhaps if I’d spent more of my youth going to discos I wouldn’t have this problem.
