Long weekend roundup – Canada Day in your community

Happy Canada Day! To help you make full use of your upcoming long weekend, we’ve compiled a list of upcoming events for you to enjoy.

Vankleek Hill: 

Beau’s Summer of Lug Party, Saturday June 30. A retro-themed party with live DJ and games.

3rd Annual VKH Canada Day Slo-Pitch Tournament, Sunday, July 1 – 8 am to 9 pm, Mill Street Park. All proceeds  to benefit Alzheimer Society. Forms and pledges can be dropped off at The Review, 76 Main St., VKH.

L’Orignal:

Ottawa River Festival, Saturday June 30 – 10 am to 12:30 pm, L’Orignal Park (772 Front Rd). Activities include a Poker Run Ride, hot dog lunch, free beach activities, and Pickrell’s Mobile Ice Cream Truck.

Canada Day Celebration, starting at noon, L’Orignal Beach (772 Front Rd). Activities include boat rides, kids’ activities, music, BBQ, and a beer tent, with fireworks starting at 10 pm.

Hawkesbury:

Canada Day Celebration, starting at 2 pm, Confederation Park. On order for the day are Boogie Wonder Band, Jacques le Pétard, and family activities, with fireworks starting at 10 pm.

East Hawkesbury: 

Canada Day Celebration, starting at 6 pm, Chute-à-Blondeau Community Centre. A spaghetti dinner followed by fireworks starting at 10 pm.

Clarence-Rockland:

Ottawa River Festival, Saturday June 30, Du Moulin Park. Family film, live music, a beer garden, and a poker run.

Canada Day Celebration, starting at 9 am. Activities such as a pancake breakfast, the Rockland Community Band, family activities, and live music, with fireworks starting at 10 pm.

Casselman: 

Canada Day Celebration, starting at 8 am, JR Brisson Complex. Activities include a pancake breakfast, kids’ activities, bubble soccer, bingo, a Dunk Tank, and a spaghetti dinner.

Lefaivre:

Lefaivre Jazz Festival, Friday June 29 and Saturday June 30 – 6:30 pm, 1965 Lajoie Rd.

Ottawa River Festival, Saturday June 30, 1965 Lajoie Rd. Activities include a canoe-kayak race, Seadoo Poker run, kids’ activities, and a community supper as of 5 pm.

Canada Day Celebration, beginning at 9:30 am. Activities include free shows, games and animation for families, and fireworks.

Chute-à-Blondeau: 

Ottawa River Festival, Saturday June 30, 8:30 to 11:30 am, Chute-à-Blondeau Park. Outdoor breakfast served by volunteer firefighters and kids’ activities.

Alexandria:

Canada Day Celebration, beginning at noon, Island Park (102 Derby St West). Parade down Main St at noon, live music, Nerf battle, kids’ activities including a firefighter combat challenge.

Glen Robertson:

Canada Day Celebration, Saturday June 30, Glen Robertson Recreation Centre (22015 Main St). Bubble soccer, inflatable games, artisans, square dancing, a cupcake contest, and fireworks at 10 pm.

Apple Hill:

Canada Day Celebration, Saturday June 30, Apple Hill Community Centre (3749 Old Orchard St). Kids’ activities, inflatable games, music, barbecue, and fireworks.

Maxville: 

Canada Day Celebration, Saturday June 30, starting at 3 pm, Maxville Fairgrounds (25 Fair St). Inflatable games, barbecue, family games, lip sync contest, and fireworks at dusk.

Harrington: 

Canada Day Celebration, parade starting at The Golden Age Centre at 3 pm. Cake contest, kids’ activities, canteen and bar, and fireworks beginning at 10 pm.
