Courir à notre santé, a fundraising initiative spearheaded by Fondation de l’Hôpital régional de Saint-Jérôme (FHRSJ) and supported by Fondation de l’Hôpital d’Argenteuil (FHA), is preparing to host its 7th edition on Sunday, June 3, 2018, in Mirabel.

The event will take place at Premium Outlets Montréal, in Mirabel, and is expected to draw 1,500 participants and over 170 youngsters aged 16 and under.

Featured this year are five events, including a one-kilometer walk or race, a two-and-a-half one-kilometer walk, a five-kilometer walk or race, a ten-kilometer challenge and a 21.1 kilometer half-marathon. The courses are all fully paved with no drops or climbs.

Every racing event will have its three corresponding medals (bronze, silver and gold) for women and three for men. An additional medal is set aside for the junior five-kilometer race.

For the FHA, participating alongside the FRHSJ in this popular event is quite interesting as well as mutually beneficial, for every registration made under the FHA banner (as opposed to the FHRSJ) ensures that the corresponding funds go to the Argenteuil Hospital in Lachute.

“The idea is to mobilize both foundations, who do share the same goal: the health of Laurentian families,” stated Élise De Sève, Donation and Event Coordinator for the FHA, at a press conference held at Honda Lachute, one of the event’s major partners.

Last year, Courir à notre santé amassed $95,000. The FHA also participated in 2017, gathering $10,000. For 2018, the committee in charge has set a goal of $85,000 and stated that it was “quite confident” it would be met.

At the press conference, De Sève stated that last year’s funds contributed to the acquisition of specialized equipment such as electric medical hospital beds, a renewal of medical imagery and the creation of a chronic diseases clinic, to name a few.

Anyone interested in learning more or signing up to the event should visit the dedicated website, couriranotresante.com . Those planning on participating should also be aware that the deadline for registration is May 29, 2018, at 11:59pm. There will be no on-site registration on the day of the event.

For those interested in participating without putting their running shoes on, the committee is currently recruiting volunteers! Those wishing to donate some time may contact Élise De Sève directly, at 450-562-3761, ext. 72100.

Rain or shine, Courir à notre santé will be back on Sunday, June 3, 2018.
