The OPP, including members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau and Drug Enforcement Unit, searched seven separate businesses and residences in Alfred on April 12, police say.

Police say drugs including cocaine, marijuana, speed, morphine, mushrooms were found, and police also seized contraband cigarettes, Canadian money, cellphones, and a firearm with ammunition.

The Hawkesbury OPP say it was the result of a “one year planned strategic investigation.”

Twelve people ranging in age between 24 and 68 were arrested. Most were charged with possessing and trafficking in one or more illegal drugs, although one, a 24-year-old man from Ottawa, was charged only with violating a probation order.

Of the people arrested, two were from Treadwell, one from Ottawa, and one from Grenville. The rest are residents of Alfred, according to police.
