On Thursday, February 2, the Vankleek Hill & District Historical Society launched their Canada 150 celebration cookbook.

The book features scans of handwritten local family recipes as well as a few photos of the cooks and family stories.

“We wanted something that would contribute to the history of the area,” says Harvey LeRoy of the decision behind assembling a cookbook. LeRoy is one of the historical society’s directors.

Naomi Mahon, another director, says the project took just over six months from start to finish.

At $20 a book, Scotiabank will match all sales; proceeds will go towards conserving artifacts at the Musée Vankleek Hill Museum.
