Vankleek Hill Parade of Lights on December 2

By Louise Sproule

November 08, 2016

Two special delivery trucks will be in Vankleek Hill on December 2 to collect children’s letters to Santa. In addition to the mail trucks, there will be mail collectors walking along the street, collecting the letters to Santa from children and handing out candy as they wish everyone Merry Christmas.

All this is part of Vankleek Hill’s annual Santa’s Christmas Parade of Lights scheduled to leave the Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute parking lot at 7 p.m. sharp to arrive on Main Street in front of the Village Christmas Tree for 8 p.m. There will be lots of floats, music, marching bands and, as usual, streets lined with families waiting to see Santa. The Vankleek Christmas Parade of Lights has become a traditional part of Christmas on the Hill, presented by Excellent Events with the assistance of the Vankleek Hill District Lions Club and Champlain Township.

The theme for this year’s parade is “A Christmas Carol”.  Everyone is invited to choose their favourite Christmas carol as a theme for their individual float. There is lots of room for everyone. Both Santa and Mrs. Claus have confirmed their participation in the parade. You can join them by entering a float and join your friends and neighbours in welcoming Christmas to Vankleek Hill. Santa’s elves will also be on hand to dole out candy to all the kids. There will be hot chocolate available near the Christmas tree.
