A household hazardous waste collection day will take place on Saturday, October 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents of Hawkesbury, Champlain Township and East Hawkesbury can bring items to the Hawkesbury sewage treatment plant at 815 Main Street East in Hawkesbury. Products accepted that day include pesticides and garden products, air fresheners, dry cell batteries, butane lighters and cylinders, fluorescent light tubes, personal care products, automotive and garage products, paints, solvents and glue products and household cleaning products. No PCB’s, commercial, industrial, radioactive, explosive or medical waste, unknown waste or tires will be accepted. For more information, residents are invited to contact their municipal offices.
