LACHUTE
The 185th Lachute Fair tore through Lachute last week with a parade of horses, trucks, kids and smiles.
Agricultural producers from across Quebec and Ontario ventured to the fairgrounds for the cow judging, horse competitions and antique tractor pulls.
For the first time in years, Saturday arrived with clear skies and sunshine, inspiring about 6,500 people to pack their cars and venture out to watch the demolition derby and play in the midway. Two skirmishes in the grandstands briefly halted the demolition derby, but were quickly resolved by fair security and SQ officers.
A second demolition derby and mud bog will take place at the fairgrounds over the Labour Day weekend.
