The Heart and Stroke Bonspiel took place at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club on Saturday, February 12 and the efforts of the organizers, contributors, and participants paid off.

A total of $9,304 was raised for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. This includes a boost from Scotiabank in Vankleek Hill, which matched the money raised to a maximum of $5,000.

Funds raised for the Heart and Stroke Foundation helps to pay for the free CPR courses that are being provided to the public in Prescott-Russell. The next CPR course takes place on Saturday, February 26 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the St-Isidore Arena.

As well, an AED will be placed in the Champlain Public Library in Vankleek Hill, as a direct result of the effort put into the bonspiel.

Both the Hawkesbury Legion and the Vankleek Hill Lions Club presented the Heart and Stroke Foundation with a cheque for $250.
