Public consultations for counties’ cultural-mapping study

The public is being asked to contribute to the development of a Prescott-Russell county-wide cultural mapping plan.

A work team has been established between the united counties, its eight municipalities and the Novita consulting firm to plan and develop a cultural plan for the region.

The plan is expected to focus on the development of a global cultural vision for Prescott-Russell while highlighting the cultural strengths in each of the eight municipalities.

This project is one of the recommendations of the recent Economic Development Plan for Prescott and Russell, while county representatives referred to it "a great opportunity for cohesion among all municipalities."

The planning process includes building an inventory of existing cultural resources and strengths - to create "a cultural map" of Prescott-Russell - as well as public consultations to help define a vision, objectives and actions for cultural development in the future.

Meetings will be held with both cultural stakeholders and the general population.

Residents of East Hawkesbury and Champlain are invited to the Champlain Township office on Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. Those in Alfred-Plantagenet and Hawkesbury are invited to the Alfred-Plantagenet Township office on Thursday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or at 7 p.m. at the Hawkesbury town hall.

Residents of Casselman and The Nation are invited to The Nation office on Friday, March 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with lunch included.
