Hockey Academy still negotiating with Rockland

Unsure whether land will be bought or rented
CIHA visit
The Canadian International Hockey Academy is still negotiating with the municipality of Rockland, regarding its use of industrially-zoned land.
Project representative Mathieu Mault said it’s still unclear whether the non-profit academy will rent or purchase land from the municipality.
Mault said the negotiations likely won’t slow down the construction, and a call for tenders should be issued before the holidays.
Funding for the sports complex and nearby facilities has been set at $21 million, which will be equally split between the municipal, provincial and federal government under Building Canada. Private founders of the CIHA will also invest at least $4 million for supplemental facilities on the site.
On August 6, Ontario's Minister of Energy and Infrastructure George Smitherman visited Rockland’s riverside to see a tentative plan of the facilities.
Mault said architectural plans should soon be released. Watch for them to appear in The Review.
