Hawkesbury-born ice climber dies in avalanche

A man born in Hawkesbury was recently killed in an avalanche, while climbing a mountain in the United States. Guy Lacelle, who has been called a world-renowned ice climber, died December 10 in Bozeman, Montana.
He had previously won various climbing awards: The 2000 and 2001 Ice Competition in Ouray, Colorado, and the Festiglace Competition in Quebec in 2004. Lacelle is said to have been caught in an avalanche. He is survived by his wife Marge Lachecki.
