There's nothing wrong with a little bit of sibling rivalry, but Jean-Marc and Richard Lalonde aren't interested in battling each other for the mayor's sit in the City of Clarence-Rockland.

The municipal election is set to take place on October 25 and while it is certain one of the Lalonde brothers will be vying for the mayor's seat, it's not quite clear which one.

After 15 years as MPP for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, Jean-Marc Lalonde has indicated he wouldn't mind finishing his political career the same way he started - as mayor of the City of Clarence-Rockland.

Although the City of Clarence-Rockland was successful in convincing seven other mayors to hand over its long-awaited extra vote around the counties council table, it has done little to quiet the municipality's talk of severing its ties with the United Counties of Prescott-Russell.

Much to the surprise of Clarence-Rockland Mayor Richard Lalonde, all eight mayors unanimously supported a bylaw that removes the maximum weighted voting cap of five votes per municipality, bringing Clarence-Rockland's total number of votes up to six.
